Verena Kyselka

The artist lives and works in Berlin and Erfurt. She started developing her artistic strategies in the East German Underground at the end of the 80s after a professional training as restorer for paintings in the churchly workshops in Erfurt. Merging painting, music and performance the figurative works realized in that time reflected the female image strongly influenced by the artist group Exterra XX. In the framework of the group she co-founded the Kunsthaus Erfurt where she curated and realized intercultural art projects. After studies of Fine Arts at the Bauhaus Universität in Weimar Verena Kyselka started working spatially with video and installation on an international base, as in Taiwan, Armenia, Albania or Australia. Her works have been presented at solo shows and contributed to many group projects all over the world: as Museum of Medical Humaities Taipei Taiwan, Kav16 TelAviv Israel, tamtamArt in Berlin, Galerie Oberwelt in Stuttgart, gallery 435 Culture Park Banciao/ Taiwan, Frauenmuseum Bonn, savvy contemporary, Berlin, Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin, Museum of Modern Art in Yerevan/ Armenien, Akademie der Künste in Berlin, Galeria e Vogel and Galeria „l.
